About our Juror | Lorraine Sullivan received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and continued her education at Suffolk University, Boston, MA, and at the DeCordova Museum School, Lincoln, MA. She taught Graphic Design and Computer Graphics at Burlington High School, Burlington, MA, and at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. She also supervised student teachers at Tufts University, Medford, MA and for the Education Program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. Sullivan was awarded Outstanding Art Teacher by the Massachusetts Alliance for Art Education, the Massachusetts High School Art Educator of the Year by the Massachusetts Art Education Association, and the Distinguished Teacher Award for Excellence in Education by the Massachusetts College of Art and Design
From our Juror | Being asked to jury this show was an honor and a challenge. As a long time CAA artist member, I often wonder why a juror selects the work they do, how important is the theme and do they really consider the make-up of a cohesive show? I endeavored to do all three while moving through over 100 pieces of every conceivable medium, technique and style. Thankfully this process was blind judging!
Given the show’s title, Lost And Found, I anticipated a wide thematic range of interpretations – I was not disappointed. I was delighted to find so many fresh, innovative pieces along with masterful, expressive traditional work. The selected pieces all share visual impact while exploring the poignant, emotional, sometimes joyous nature of being lost or found.
