What are your earliest memories of being artistic? Junior high school taking pictures of my sneakers.
When did art become a pursuit? 2008
Are you self-taught or formally educated in visual art? Self taught plus courses and workshops at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Maine Media Workshops.
How did you first become involved with CAA? Entered National Juried Exhibit competition.
In what other ways are you involved in the local art community? Former President of the Museum of Fine Arts and former Chairman of the SMFA

What role do you think the artist plays in society? It’s a mirror.
What medium do you currently work in and how did you choose this medium? Photography. I liked the “gear” and the immediacy.
What is your creative process? Where are you finding ideas for your art these days? I think about photo opportunities all the time. When you become a dedicated photographer, you are always looking and framing in your mind.
How do you choose your subject matter? Is there a reoccurring theme that carries throughout your work? I like classic street work and abandoned architectures. Back roads and small towns are always on my agenda.
In your opinion, what’s your best/favorite piece you’ve made? Changes all the time.

What’s your favorite place to see art? MFA Boston
What living artists are you inspired by? My favorite artists are all dead. Walker Evans, Lewis Balz, Lucian Freud and many others
