What are your earliest memories of being artistic? I have always identified as an artist. When I was very young other kids would come to me to draw for them. My specialities were bunnies and horses.
When did art become a pursuit? Always, I took every art class that was offered in school.
Are you self-taught or formally educated in visual art? I have a BFA and MFA in sculpture from Boston University, but I learn new methods all the time.
How did you first become involved with CAA? I joined several years ago.
In what other ways are you involved in the local art community? I am a member of Boston Sculptors Gallery and teach at Lesley University. I am currently embarking on a big collaborative project with the town of Arlington.

What role do you think the artist plays in society? Art can be a catalyst for change. Artists can point to issues in their work and shift perceptions. Art is also therapeutic and can be community building.
What medium do you currently work in and how did you choose this medium? I am currently working with post consumer plastic. I started using this material about ten years ago when I learned about the plastic debris in the oceans. My work is about our relationship to the planet and the critical need for stewardship of our environment.
Where are you finding ideas for your art these days? Everywhere…
In your opinion, what’s your best/favorite piece you’ve made? That is like picking a favorite child.
What is one of your artistic goals? I would like to scale up my practice and exhibit around the country.

What’s your favorite place to see art? I go to as many shows as I can. It could be a full time job viewing art.
What living artists are you inspired by? Many people. Nathalie Miebach, Beth Dary, Anne Wilson, Samantha Fields, Christine Aaron, Amanda McCavour, Ann Wessmann, The Boston Sculptors, and many more.
Do you own any art by other artists? Yes! I have work by many local artists and friends. I also love African art.
Do you have any shows coming up? Exhibit: Vision 2020: Found, Formed, Fused. Cape Cod Museum of Art, Dennis, MA. May 14- August 2, 2020.
