About | The Feedback Forum at the Cambridge Art Association is a space for artists to share work, get feedback, and grow. Each Feedback Forum features three CAA members (Artists, Associates, and Students) presenting their work – either finished or in process. Presenters receive constructive feedback from an audience of their peers – other CAA members working in a variety of different media. This is a CAA Member event.
Please note: In order to maintain social distancing, we are temporarily moving Feedback Forum online! Same great format, new virtual location. Please make sure to register in advance, using the links below, in order to receive a ZOOM event link.
Upcoming dates
Please note: Feedback Forum is free and open to CAA members and their guests. This is not a public event.
How it works, Being a Presenter
Interested in presenting? There are 3 presenter slots* available for each Feedback Forum (and spots fill up fast!) At each session, each presenter may feature up to 4 pieces. The presenter will provide the back story of each piece: What prompted the work? What techniques were used to produce it? What is the artist hoping to convey to the viewer? Following the presentation, attendees are invited to provide constructive feedback – does the piece “work”? is the vision clear? Is it well executed? All in the hopes of creating a positive experience for all parties. Attendees simply saying ‘I like it’ is not a particularly useful commentary. Why do you like it? Or why do you not like it? What do you think could make it better?

What people are saying about Feedback Forum
On Critique Night I presented my artwork. I got so much out of it… support, feedback and suggestions about my work, I left inspired! It was also great to see other other artists work and hear about their way of working. I felt a sense of community, It was a great night. I look forward to the next Crit session.
Maureen McCabe, FF Presenter
I was immediately ready to join when the e mail arrived to form a crit group. Being in a Low Rez program – the crits are 6 months apart, I also have a mentor once a month but even though, it was fun to show and receive fresh feed back last night.
Nancy Hart, FF Presenter
Thanks again for organizing this event. Having a forum for constructive criticism is so helpful, both for the artist presenting and for those providing critiques since everyone learns in the process. I hope that you have many more of these events, and I am looking forward to presenting next month.
Leora Schiff, Attendee
I enjoyed the evening and think that both presenters and the rest of us commenting on the works gained some insights on the artist’s, and our own, processes, which I believe was the point of these sessions. Although all three of the presenters were actually painters, their techniques and mediums were very different, and that in itself made for thinking a bit out of the box when critiquing their work. Certainly the session was lively and full of varied suggestions on what the individual artist might expand on and what they might reconsider in each of the works that they presented. I know I left the gallery thinking about how some of the commentary might apply to my own work as well. All in all…a successful critique nite, and I would hope that the CAA will have more of them in the future.
