Greggy Bazile, graduating Cambridge Rindge and Latin School student, awarded 2021 Rabb Scholarship

Jun 18, 2021

Created in 2014 through a bequest from Irving Rabb, the Irving W. and Charlotte F. Rabb Scholarship awards up to 10 membership scholarships annually, alongside a $1,000 award to a graduating Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS) student pursuing higher education in the visual arts or design fields.

We are pleased to announce that the 2021 Rabb Scholarship recipient is Greggy Bazile.

Bazile has been active in several community art projects in Cambridge, including a 35 ft mural created with the Community Art Center, as well as a project for BioMed. In the 2020/2021 school year, he created a logo used by the CRLS school wide community, reCRLS. And, he has received Gold and Silver Key Awards from the Massachusetts Scholastic Arts program

In his application, Bazile wrote: “Design is one of the most powerful forces in our lives. It is inspiring, empowering and enlightening. Good design is so much more than making something look good and beautiful, it’s about creating influence and doing something the best way it can be done. Good and meaningful design influences how we think, the way we feel and the decisions we make – and anything that can influence people can have an impact on society.”

About the Rabb Scholarship Program: The Rabbs were longtime supporters and neighbors of the Cambridge Art Association. Mrs. Rabb passed away in 2003, and Mr. Rabb in 2011. Mr. Rabb retired as the Vice Chairman of Stop & Shop, the supermarket chain founded by his family in 1914 as Economy Grocery Store in Somerville, MA. The Rabbs embraced philanthropy, and supported many institutions in the Greater Boston area. Mr. Rabb “felt that philanthropy was a way of looking at the world. And that had to be taught, and he was very eager to be one of those communicators who worked with the younger generations.’’
