What are your earliest memories of being artistic?  I enjoyed my first camera at age 7.

When did art become a pursuit?  It was a hobby for me during my working years and became a serious pursuit following my retirement 9 years ago.

Are you self-taught or formally educated in visual art?  No degrees in art, but I’ve taken many workshops at New England School of Photography in recent years. And a recent 3-year mentorship with Alison Shaw on Martha’s Vineyard. And a couple of workshops with Ansel Adams in the 1970’s.

How did you first become involved with CAA?  Can’t recall. Someone mentioned it a few years ago and I applied and got in.

In what other ways are you involved in the local art community?  I’m a teaching assistant in evening digital workshops at New England School of Photography, working with Sue Anne Hodges.

What role do you think the artist plays in society?  Art provides a level of sanity, entertainment, and comfort for many people, artists and the public alike.

What medium do you currently work in and how did you choose this medium?  I fell in love with Photoshop about 12 years ago and never went back to the darkroom.

What is your creative process? Where are you finding ideas for your art these days?  These days, I intentionally shoot for three projects in order to create what I call phototransformations. Using my own images, I work in Photoshop to create something new. The projects are: Textures and trees; textures and buildings; and textures, trees and buildings at a former clandestine detention center in Argentina.

What is one of your artistic goals?  To create something I want to keep looking at.
