Roohi Vinaik

Roohi Vinaik is a MD and basic scientist by training and is a self-taught artist. She has always had an interest in art (in particular, portrait sketching), which has been integral to her life. Most recently, she has been experimenting with a variety of styles and media, and her latest work has been focused on portrait/landscape oil painting.

What medium do you currently work in and how did you choose this medium? Oil, pastel, and pencil. I started sketching when I was younger and then began experimenting with color over time. I started oil painting a month ago as it was one of the mediums I have always been interested in learning.
What is your creative process? Where are you finding ideas for your art these days? A blend of dreams plus photos I have taken.
What are your earliest memories of being artistic? When I was about 4 years old.

How do you choose your subject matter? Is there a reoccurring theme that carries throughout your work? I usually choose my colors first and then work backward on what subjects would be a good fit.
What is one of your artistic goals? Becoming an expert in oil painting.
