About | Strategies of Resplendence

In discussing the use of glamour in literature, Judith Brown notes that writers “reach not for the shallow gift of illusion…, but rather the refiguration of the world, from filth to resplendence” (Glamour in Six Dimensions, 2018). Extending Brown’s theorization of glamour in literature to the visual arts, Strategies of Resplendence considers the strategies that artists use to present the ordinary anew, to evoke wonder, and to bewitch.

Strategies of Resplendence is the companion exhibit to Vernacular Glamour, and is juried by Juan Omar Rodriguez.
